ENERPAT Hopper Feed Scrap Metal Baler for Stainless Steel Stamping Scrap
Challenges in Processing Stainless Steel Stamping Scrap
Stainless steel stamping scrap and offcuts are common by-products generated during metal manufacturing processes. Due to their irregular shapes, sharp edges, and tendency to tangle together, these materials are often difficult to collect, store, and handle manually. The loose scrap takes up significant storage space and can create safety risks during handling and transportation. In addition, the low density of untreated stainless steel scrap increases logistics costs and reduces recycling efficiency.
ENERPAT's Solution: The Hopper Style Baling Scrap Metal Machine
1. Open Hopper Feed — Built for Tangled, Irregular Scrap
Unlike closed feed-box balers that require scrap to be pre-sorted or fed in manageable amounts, the AMB-H's large hopper accepts loose, interlocked stainless steel stampings as-is. Operators (or a conveyor/forklift) simply dump the scrap in. There's no need to untangle pieces by hand before loading, which removes the single biggest labor bottleneck when working with stamped stainless offcuts.
2. High-Tonnage Hydraulic Compression for Hard, Springy Material
Stainless steel is harder and springier than mild steel or aluminum, so it resists compaction more and tends to "spring back" if the press force is insufficient. The AMB-H's 100-500 ton hydraulic ram, driven by cartridge-type high-flow valves, delivers the sustained force needed to fully collapse springy stainless scrap into a tight, stable bale rather than a loose bundle that reopens after ejection.
3. Reinforced Cylinder & Cabinet for Abrasive, High-Hardness Scrap
Stainless steel is more abrasive on press chambers and cylinders than softer metals. The AMB-H's mortise-and-tenon welded cabinet structure and flanged double-main cylinders are engineered to withstand the extra wear from repeated high-hardness compression cycles, keeping maintenance costs down over years of continuous stainless processing.
4. Industrial Cooling for Continuous, Multi-Shift Baling
Compressing hard stainless scrap generates more hydraulic system heat than lighter materials. The AMB-H's 24-hour online industrial chiller keeps oil temperature stable, so the machine can run continuously across multiple shifts without performance drop-off. This important for shops generating stamping scrap on an ongoing production schedule rather than in occasional batches.
5. PLC-Controlled Automation for Consistent, Safe Operation
A Siemens/Schneider PLC system with one-click touchscreen operation automatically adjusts pressure and monitors current/temperature in real time, with automatic alarms if the hopper jams from tangled scrap. This keeps the baling process consistent bale after bale and reduces the operator skill/attention needed to safely process irregular stainless stampings.
Operating Principle
Continuous Feeding:
Belt conveyor enables 24/7 operation with ≤50mm thin/scrap inputs.
Hydraulic Cold Press:
Oil-cooled system maintains <65°C under full load, preventing thermal degradation.
Auto-Ejection:
Programmable PLC pushes 25-35kg bales via side gate with 12s/cycle efficiency.
