An aluminum profile manufacturer in California has ordered an ENERPAT AMB-H1075-250 Hopper-Type Scrap Metal Baler to compress its aluminum chips into dense bales for furnace feeding. The machine was available from stock and shipped from ENERPAT’s Ohio facility to California after the customer’s material had been tested.
· Location: California, USA
· Industry: Metal processing (aluminum profile manufacturing)
· Material: Aluminum chips
· Equipment: ENERPAT AMB-H1075-250 Hopper-Type Scrap Metal Baler
· Application: Baling aluminum chips into dense bales for charging into the furnace
The customer is a metal processing company in California that manufactures aluminum profiles. Machining and finishing profiles produces aluminum chips as a by-product. Rather than treating them as waste, the company aims to return the metal to its furnace, which makes good handling of this material an important part of its operation.
Loose aluminum chips are light, bulky and awkward to handle, and they are difficult to feed into a furnace efficiently. The customer needed to pack the chips into dense, uniform bales before they went into the furnace.
The customer also wanted to avoid a long wait. A machine that could be supplied from stock, and a supplier willing to test the material before the order was placed, would reduce both delivery time and the risk of buying the wrong equipment.
ENERPAT AMB-H1075-250 Hopper-Type Scrap Metal Baler. It has a 250-ton press force, two 22 kW motors and a 1000 × 750 mm compression chamber. It runs in fully automatic mode and produces bales of 250 × 250 mm.
Two factors drove the customer’s decision: the machine was available from stock, and ENERPAT tested the customer’s material before the order. The AMB-H series offers free material testing for customer-supplied samples, so the customer could confirm the baler suited its aluminum chips before committing.
The AMB-H1075-250 also suits the application technically:
· Built for aluminum chips and light non-ferrous scrap: The AMB-H series is designed for lightweight metal such as aluminum cans, foil, chips and shavings. The 250-ton press force is at the high end of the series’ range, giving stronger compression for denser feedstock.
· Cold-pressed bales, no binders: Hydraulic compression forms dense, uniform bales without adhesives, so the metal’s properties are unchanged. Dense bales reduce transport volume and help improve furnace yield during remelting.
· Continuous hopper feeding: A guarded side platen lets material drop into the hopper while the ram is pressing, so loading never has to stop between cycles.
· Durable construction: The chamber is lined with HRC55 wear-resistant plate, and the frame is a mortise-and-tenon welded structure for high load capacity and long service life.
· Dependable hydraulics: The system uses a one-piece integrated cylinder with a 5-year warranty, a cartridge-type valve group for fast cycles, H-type tapered fittings that resist leaks, and an industrial chiller that supports multi-shift operation.
· Simple, safe control: A Siemens or Schneider PLC with a touchscreen monitors cycle time, current and oil temperature. The CE-certified safety system includes an emergency stop, overload protection and a lockable maintenance mode.
Shear blades on the ram and a dovetail counter-blade on the frame cut long or awkward pieces during compression, which helps keep bale shape clean. The machine also carries a 1-year warranty.
The AMB-H1075-250 is set up to bale aluminum chips from the customer’s profile production. The AMB-H series also handles aluminum cans, foil, lightweight aluminum profiles, thin iron and steel sheet, scrap copper and mixed non-ferrous scrap, so the customer has flexibility if its scrap mix changes in the future.
The baler has been shipped from ENERPAT’s Ohio facility to the customer in California, and it is now on its way to the customer’s site. Because the machine came from stock, the customer did not have to wait for a custom build.
Once in operation, the AMB-H1075-250 will compress aluminum chips into dense 250 × 250 mm bales that are ready for the furnace. The result is a practical way to turn a bulky by-product into a material that is easier to handle, store and remelt.
ENERPAT’s AMB-H series offers press forces from 100 to 500 tons and motor power from 30 to 185 kW, with models for different materials and volumes. We test customer-supplied samples free of charge before you order. Send us your material and daily volume, and we will confirm the right model.
